What is the difference between XCRI-CAP and XCRI?

Answer

Just XCRI, or XCRI r1.0 describes the project undertaken over the last 7 years to describe and standardise elements within the whole curriculum management process. This large data model is sometimes referred to as 'big XCRI'. There has been some use over the years, in particular within the CUMULUS project, but due to its complexity the JISC focused on the Course Advertising Profile part of the model - hence 'CAP', which is the data model that has been endorsed as the UK eProspectus standard.

XCRI-CAP version 1.2 is compliant with the European Metadata for Learning Opportunities standard. Therefore, if you are providing an externally accessible course data feed, use XCRI-CAP version 1.2.
