Description:
Sponsored by JISC, this project began in April 2010 and ran until September 2010.
The aim was to undertake infrastructure development to move the East Midlands implementation of XCRI to the next level and address the interoperability challenge for exporters and importers of XCRI in the region.
ROBOT-XCRI (ROBust Operational Transfer for XCRI), led by the University of Nottingham’s Centre for International ePortfolio Development (CIePD) and partnered with
Aimhigher in the East Midlands, aimed to further XCRI implementation within the East Midlands through development of a robust XCRI transformation and importer engine for their
Your Future East Midlands 1(YFEM) website.
Through project work undertaken by the CIePD, the East Midlands’ region has reached a point where a significant number of XCRI-CAP exports now exist as well as
testing imports2. Moving this implementation to the next level was the focus of this proposal, as well as to provide an XCRI export exemplar to inform institutions on developing their
exports. Additionally, the aim was to provide an example of good practice for consumer applications/importers in fulfilling high quality look up and transformation of data to present a
coherent and accurate representation of the aggregated data. The project concentrated on automation and data maintenance processes as well as developing a protocol for the sector
with useable and relevant models for implementation.
