Tools
The XCRI community has created a range of relevant tools that are available for use or further development. Many of these are open source and can be freely used immediately.
Validators
There are a large number of freely available and commercial products that will enable developers to test the validity of XML files, including against specific schemas.
Here are links to XCRI-CAP validators that have been made available through the wider developer community:
XCRI base libraries
XCRI base libraries - A base library to generate XCRI feeds
XCRI-CAP Java classes - A Java binding for XCRI-CAP on Github
MUSKET Tools
The project aim was to develop and deliver a software application that will support employer engagement and workforce planning requirements by providing a CRM based integrated view of employer based, professional and tertiary sector education. There are two tools:
- one that will allow non-technical specialists to import MS Word documents containing course descriptions, provide semantic mark-up, and export into the JISC XCRI-CAP standard creating a database;
- one that will support employer-led learner route planning.
XCRI eXchange Platform (XXP)
A service platform for XCRI-CAP enabled tools and services, XXP includes webForm, a data collection tool with XCRI-CAP output generator, an XCRI-CAP feed register, and a growing number of import, export and other services.
ASAP, Advanced Search Algorithm Protocol
The ASAP prototype service is a web-based demonstrator of a subject search system that showed how a user can select a search term from a keyword list or subject classification system and obtain search results from a different keyword list or classification system used in the course information system.
